Arkansas State Police Seize 345 Pounds Of Pot In Just Two Busts
Interstate 40 through Arkansas continues to be a busy corridor for illegal drugs transitioning the state. Arkansas State Police (ASP) are reporting they have seized almost 350 pounds of marijuana just in the last few days during traffic stops.
Monday, July 29, 2024:
This past Monday, July 29, at approximately 8:17 AM, Arkansas State Police stopped a 2020 black Chevrolet Silverado on Interstate 40 eastbound near the 43-mile marker for a traffic violation. Upon searching the vehicle, troopers discovered seven large trash bags in the truck bed containing 145 pounds of illegal marijuana.
The driver, Steven McGee, 34, of Halstead, Kansas, was arrested and transported to the Franklin County Detention Center. He faces felony charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver and Drug Paraphernalia.
Thursday, July 25, 2024:
On Thursday, July 25, 2024, at approximately 11:47 a.m., Arkansas State Police (ASP) stopped a black 2014 Dodge pickup on I-40 eastbound around the 40-mile marker in Franklin County for a traffic violation.
During the search, troopers found seven large trash bags in the truck bed filled with 202 pounds of illegal marijuana.
The driver, Brent Pope, 42, of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Detention Center. He was charged with felony Possession with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
These significant seizures highlight the ongoing efforts of the Arkansas State Police to combat illegal drug trafficking on state highways.
