Arkansas Goodwill Stores Eliminating the Plastic Bag in September
Have you heard beginning September 3, 2024, if you shop at any Goodwill store in Arkansas don't expect to get a plastic bag for your goods and products?
The non-profit organization is taking steps to help reduce waste for a greener future, according to CEO Brian Marsh and Goodwill Industries of Arkansas.
Customers are encouraged to bring a reusable bag or they can purchase one for a nominal fee during checkout at the store.
According to a press release, “By eliminating nearly 3.5 million single-use plastic bags per year, which often end up in landfills or as litter, Goodwill aims to significantly reduce waste, prevent litter, beautify communities, and safeguard wildlife.”
Goodwill Industries of Arkansas will discontinue the single-use plastic bags all across Arkansas on September 3. Goodwill officials know this will take some time to get used to so it's best if customers can start doing it now before it goes into effect. Several other stores across the United States have already been doing this a couple of years ago and apparently, Arkansas is now joining the Goodwill green movement.
Join them in their mission to reduce plastic waste. Together, you can make a difference, one bag at a time according to their Facebook post.
