Last night, July 12, 2015 at about 10:15 p.m. the Texarkana Ark., Police Department responded to a residence in the 900 block of Ferguson Street in reference to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers say they encountered an injured juvenile and several witnesses who provided the officers with additional information regarding the incident. During their investigation, officers learned the 17-year-old victim was standing on Spring Street just west of the street’s intersection with Ferguson Street. The victim and the witnesses encountered a white Chevrolet Impala, which had turned west onto Spring Street from Ferguson Street.

As the vehicle passed the victim and the witnesses, reportedly a verbal disturbance ensued between the driver and the pedestrians standing in the street. Ultimately, the driver of the Chevrolet Impala allegedly turned the vehicle around, began traveling east towards Ferguson Street and collided with the juvenile.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the collision with the victim, according to police. The investigation led officers to locate the driver of the vehicle not long afterward in the parking lot of a business.

Officers then arrested 24-year-old Akirrah Gulley-Booker and charged her with aggravated assault.

The victim of the accident was transported to a local hospital where she began receiving treatment for her injuries, which are not life threatening.
