This rec league basketball game began with a nod to another sport.

Watch what happens after the game tips off. The team that wins the tip immediately backs into a football formation and the quarterback (or is that point guard?) heaves a three-quarters length of the court shot that somehow hits nothing but net.

It hardly seems like the optimum offensive play to call when the game has just started (or at any other junction short of needing a full-length buzzer-beater to win or tie), but you can't argue with the results.

Maybe this will start a trend and the team will show off a formation that resembles baseball's double play defense in its next game. If the Hail Mary worked, what's to say other sports can't follow suit?
