The Texarkana Area Chapter #278 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will be hosting its 19th Annual Veterans Information Center on Armed Forces Day.The event on Saturday May 16 will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southwest Center located at 3222 West Seventh Street in Texarkana, Texas. The fair is free and open to all veterans of all eras, all active, reserve, and National Guard personnel and their families.

The purpose of the fair is to assist veterans and their families, active duty, reserved and National Guard personnel and their families, obtain information from a variety of sources on VA benefits, programs, and other assistance for them and their families.

There will be a collection drive of non-perishable food items for Hero's Pantry and a voter's registration guide for citizens of both Arkansas and Texas.

Agencies that are invited and expected to be at the fair include:

Texas Veterans Land Board, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Texarkana VA Outpatient Clinic, VA Medical Center (Shreveport), Social Security Administration.

Others invited include: Christus St. Michael Hospital, East Funeral Home, Area Agency on Aging, Hospice of Texarkana, Serenity Hospice, VA Counselors, Texarkana College Veteran Advisors, and Veterans Service Representatives.

Also, Texas A&M Student Counselors, and others that may pertain to veterans and active duty, reserve and national guard personnel's needs and programs. There is no charge for this service.
