Texarkana has been chosen as a stop on the U.S. Navy Concert Band's 2014 tour of 22 cities in six states.

The show is scheduled for February 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sullivan Performing Arts Center on Summerhill Road in Texarkana Texas.

The United States Navy Concert Band has been proclaimed one of the finest wind ensembles in the world and has been performing public concerts and high profile events for 90 years. The Navy Band will be performing a wide variety of patriotic selections, marches, and more.

For the Navy Band, one of the main responsibilities is to tour the country each year in specific regions to allow people to see the Navy's premiere musical ensemble.

The band did not tour in 2013 because of sequestration as mentioned in the press release,

These national tours return following a year in which sequestration and its impact on outreach spending forced several of them to be suspended. Pentagon officials announced a plan Oct. 18 that enables the military services to resume conducting community and public outreach activities in 2014, albeit at a significantly reduced capacity.

The U.S. Navy Band concerts are designed to be family-friendly events, and meant to be entertaining to veterans, families, individuals and of course those interested in joining the Navy.
