The Texarkana, Texas Police Department arrested three men for burglary this morning.

At about 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to an alarm call at a convenience store in the 3300 block of Texas Boulevard. When officers arrived, they discovered that the building had been broken into. Officers were able to view video from the business’ surveillance system and observed three suspects jump over the counter and steal multiple cartons of cigarettes. The suspects then fled the scene.

Officer JB Johnson was in the 3400 block of New Boston Road at approximately 5:20 a.m. when he observed a light green SUV circling the area. Officer Johnson made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who identified himself as John Willeford, 23, of Texarkana, Texas. During a consensual search, Officer Johnson discovered that Willeford had evidence of the burglary in the vehicle.

Officers also searched the area, and located Kevonte Smith and Rodricus Townsend, both 17, both from Texarkana, Texas. All three were positively identified from the surveillance video as the suspects in the burglary. All suspects were arrested and transported to jail.

The investigation revealed that these three suspects may have been involved in several other burglaries in other jurisdictions. Their apprehension has led to the recovery of several items taken in these burglaries.
