Every time you turn on the TV and get invested in a show that seems to be normal, some character gets mad and turns into a wolf, vampire or some other supernatural being. Somehow shows like this have become normal, and outrageously popular.

The Vampire Diaries airs on The CW and I have yet to miss an episode. It has vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts and hybrids. If you aren't familiar, a hybrid is a mix between a vampire and a werewolf..duh. While the fact that a show like this can be so popular sometimes seems crazy to me, I find myself entirely too invested in the lives of Damon, Stefan and Elena.

The Vampire Diaries follows these three and their close friends as they try and fight against the evil agenda of the original vampire family. This show has been so popular that they are debuting a spin-off series this fall titled, The Originals  I encourage you to catch up on The Vampire Diaries before the fifth season kicks off in October, but be careful..it's addicting.

This summer I have been into MTV's Teen Wolf. It's based on the 1985 movie, minus Michael J. Fox of course.

The show follows the life of Scott McCall. A teenager who gets bit by a mysterious creature one night in the woods and the next day starts showing sign of being a werewolf. That's probably why I don't hang out in the woods.. While it also seems like a crazy show, it's actually really good. This show has more action than most, so if you are interested you should check it out.

While all of these crazy characters might seem new, supernatural characters have actually been around for quite some time. The CW show Supernatural is about to head into it's ninth season. While I don't watch this one, it has been around since 2005 so it has to be doing something right.

The show follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they hunt down ghost, demons and other supernatural beings. Since I am a fan of the other shows, I might have to check this one out next.

With all these crazy new characters seeming to show up on every television show, I imagine every show from now on will have some sort of supernatural twist. For the most part it makes good TV, so I'm not complaining.
