Texas A&M University-Texarkana Student Counseling and Step UP! are sponsoring a music festival on the deck of the TAMUT pond. The first annual Music on the Lake Festival will include music from different genres including Pop, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop and Country! The event will feature headline act and YouTube star Tay Marie from Las Vegas, Chicago native Sebron Smith, and Texarkana’s own Austin Williams performing hits you know and love. The concert is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on April 27.
Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. It received a NASPA Gold award and recently was identified as a ‘Best Practice’ by the NCAA Sports Science Institute of national and international scholars. Using a system of training programs and presentations, Step UP! tries to raise student’s awareness of helping behaviors, increase the motivation to help, develop skills and confidence for responding to problems or concerns, and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the According to the Press Release, student’s immediate environment.
