Today was the first annual "Railfest" in downtown Texarkana. Me, and my buddy Fish entered the BBQ Rib Cookoff. We have won some awards with our cooking in the past, including the Blues and BBQ Festival a few years ago, but we didn't win this one. I think.

We sort of gave up on cook-offs for a while, after the run in with the Kansas City BBQ Society... I still say there is no such thing as a beef brisket that is "too tender". I've never been to Kansas. Too tender???  Screw the KC BBQ Society... I don't ever plan on going to Kansas anyway. This was judged locally, and around here, we know BBQ!

Here at home, we are champions...we thought, then we got to the Railfest Rib Cook-off. We knew we were up against some tough competition when our neighbor had an awesome cook rig with running water and his own electricity... he was set up, I mean we expected him to break out a flat screen tv, and leather rocker recliner... He ended up winning first place by the way. But, all of the teams out there came to win, and really... they all should have.

WE HAD A BLAST!!!

And we can't wait for the 2nd Annual Railfest in 2012, and hope we see all of the great teams that were there this year!
