Color can affect our moods, in clothes it can complement your complexion or it can wash you out and made you look sickly. So it makes sense that color can affect our sleep too...and it does!

New studies have come out about the color of bedrooms and how it affects our sleep. This is so funny to me because my mom always insisted on blue or green walls in the bedrooms of our house. Well, Mom...You were right!! Again!

Ten colors were ranked.

People with blue bedroom walls actually got the most sleep. and usually woke up feeling positive and happy. The calming affects of the color blue have even been shown to reduce blood pressure.

Other big winners Yellow and Green.

The color to avoid in your bedroom is purple. From the study the color purple is too simulating to the brain. Making it hard for your brain to turn off and relax.

‘Although many people think purple creates a sense of luxury in the bedroom, this colour can reduce the number of hours of sleep you attain.

‘Purple has a strong connection with the more artistic community being a colour reported to stimulate creativity and the unconscious mind. Therefore sleeping in a purple room is more likely to promote vivid dreams or even nightmares; resulting in you feeling tired in the morning.’

Here are all 10 bedroom colors that were studied and ranked from best sleep to the worst  sleep:

1. Blue

2. Yellow

3. Green

4. Silver

5. Orange

6. Red

7. Gold

8. Gray

9 Brown

10. Purple.

This is so wild. I remember when one of my older sisters moved away to Oklahoma City  got her own apartment. She decorated it in Browns. I guess she was trying to get as far away as possible from the blue room we shared at home. Well, it was a few weeks later and my sister called my mom, she said "I can't sleep! All I do is toss and turn." My mom said immediately, change your bedding to blue. Change the curtains and some accessories in your room to blue." Well, she did and Waa La!

As a result, I have always insisted on my bedroom to be blue. When my husband and I got married and moved into our house, first thing we did? Paint our bedroom blue. Thank you Mom!! I always knew you knew best but now there is scientific proof!

What color is your bedroom?
