Brian Nelson, the head of baseball operations of Clutch Entertainment, recently announced the hiring of Bill Clay, the 2nd Head Coach in Twins franchise History. With coaching stints in professional baseball and in the college ranks, Coach Clay brings along a wealth of experience to the Texarkana Twins.
Most recently, Coach Clay spent the last couple summers managing collegiate summer baseball with the Liberal Bee Jays in the Jayhawk League and also the Winnipesaukee Muskrats in the New England Collegiate League.

According to the Press Release, Nelson said “Coach Clay was a no-brainer hire for us in Texarkana. Not only does Coach Clay provide 30 plus years of high-level coaching experience, but he was born here (Texarkana), and wants nothing more than to give this community a winning team that Texarkana can be proud of”.

Coach Clay’s playing days started in Texarkana as a young boy playing Legion ball and continued his amateur career at the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM). After graduating from ULM, Coach Clay continued his career into the professional ranks playing for the Baton Rouge Cougars and the Newark Co-Pilots.

Coach Clay shared “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to come back to Texarkana and coach baseball for the Twins. This community has always been home to me, and I want to put a team on the field that represents the hard-working people here. I’m excited to get to work and compete for a championship from day one”.

The Twins begin their 3rd season on Wednesday, May 29th at George Dobson Field and are excited about competing for a 2019 Texas Collegiate League Championship.
