Texarkana to Commemorate 9/11

The anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America will be this Friday and Texarkana will be holding its own event.

Texarkana, USA emergency responders will join organizations and individuals across the country in commemorating the 9/11 anniversary. The Texarkana 9//11 Memorial Service will take place this Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:59 a.m. in front of the Texarkana Federal Court House/Post Office. Texarkana Fire Honor Guards will perform the 5-5-5 Bell Ceremony followed by a moment of silence.

Both Texarkana, Arkansas Mayor Ruth Penney Bell and Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman will make remarks.

The Texarkana event will be part of observances all over the country as we remember the terrorist attacks that brought down the Twin Towers in New York City and damaged the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., when terrorists hijacked two planes. A third plane went down in a field near Shanksville, Penn., when passengers fought back against the attacker. Officials believe that plane was either headed for the Capitol or the White House.
