A little after noon today, (2/19), Texarkana, Texas Police responded to the 2700 block of New Boston Road in reference to a man with a gun call. The suspect refused to cooperate with officers, and police used less than lethal "bean bags" to arrest the man.

From the official press release passed on by Texarkana Texas Police Information Officer Sgt. Aaron Brower,

Officers responded to the scene and found the suspect sitting on a bench outside.  Officers repeatedly ordered the suspect to remove his hands from his pockets but he would not comply.  Officers utilized pepper spray in an attempt to gain compliance, but the suspect continued to refuse to follow commands.  The suspect quickly stood up, and started to pull something out of his right pocket.  Officers deployed two hydrokinetic bean bag rounds, striking the suspect and after the second impact he complied with officers’ commands.  He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Anyone with information on this incident or any other is asked to contact the Texarkana, Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP (7867).
