More than 3,000 books were recently donated to the NAACP Kool Schools Mini-Libraries project. That's when College Hill Middle School social studies teacher Yolanda Smith saw a great opportunity to give back to the community.

After asking about the regular recycling and replacement of library books at her school, Smith requested the books be donated to Miller County NAACP Kool School sites to help with their new project. Principal Johnny Arnold agreed, and on Thursday, Sept. 10, Arnold and Smith presented the books to members of the NAACP.

Books will be distributed to the seven Kool School project sites, which include six churches and one downtown business: Hall Memorial Methodist, Miles Chapel, St. Paul Methodist, Walker Chapel CME, Tower of Power Ministries, Eleventh Street Baptist, and C and C Attitudes.

Children and their families are welcome to visit the sites and check out books.
