Texarkana Police Say Facebook Post About Assault is Fake

Texarkana, Texas Police say a Facebook post making the rounds in Texarkana about a local assault involving U.S. Marines is absolutely untrue.Here is what the department posted on their Facebook page concerning the erroneous post:

Yesterday, we learned of a Facebook post alleging that a man was attacked and assaulted by a group of 10 Marines in Texarkana. The poster also said that the Texarkana Police Department refused to do anything about it because one of the Marines was the son of an officer.

Like many of you, we were immediately suspicious of these claims. However, we take all allegations of improper conduct by our officers seriously. As such, we conducted an investigation to determine the validity of those allegations. We can now say with absolute certainty that no such incident involving any Marines occurred in our city. And, had it actually occurred, we have full confidence that our officers would have properly handled the situation.

Bottom line is that the allegations made are baseless and not true."
