My buddy Neil Jones is a huge supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Every year, Neil rounds up the troops (friends) and heads out on the open road for the Talimena Motorcycle Rally.  This year, the run is scheduled for May 21-24.The rally starts at its headquarters at the Arkansas Convention Center in Texarkana and riders will make the trek through the rolling hills of Arkansas all the way to the front door of St. Jude Hospital in June to deliver all the proceeds from the bike rally. Cost of the rally is $60 to participate before May 1 and $70 after that date. This will include two group rides, point runs, meals, a rally T-shirt (early registration), and topping off the event live music from Crooked Halo and the Dusty Rose Band.

As mentioned, there will be two rides -- a group ride May 21 that will include riding the back woods of rolling hills through Glenwood, Ark. Then on May 22, saddle up your steel horses for another ride to Queen Wilhelmina and a part of the beautiful Talimena Scenic Byway.

This will be the 15th year for the rally, which is very personal to Neil Jones. Jones' wife, Janice, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007 and continues her fight for survival today. Neil and Janice, who are avid bike lovers, know that bike riders are some of the most generous people who love coming together for charitable organizations. When talking to Neil, even though he continues to fight the struggles of helping his wife battle her cancer, he is very passionate about helping find cures and give hope for children at St. Jude.

Kicker 102.5 supports Neil and everything he is doing for St. Jude  to help maintain that “No child should die in the dawn of life.” In addition to the rally, there will also be another fundraiser for St. Jude "Concert for the  Kids" on Saturday will be held April 4 at 6 p.m. at the Arkansas Convention Center located at 5200 Convention Plaza. This event will feature three bands the Dusty Rose Band, Crooked Halo, and from Fort Smith, Ark., an acoustic performance from Rockey Jones and Damon Shores. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 the day of concert. Tickets are available at Whiskey River Harley Davidson. All ages are welcome and food and drinks will be provided for an additional fee.
