Randy Sams Outreach Shelter will continue their annual tradition of serving the area homeless and less fortunate a hearty meal on Thanksgiving Day from 11 AM to 1 PM at the shelter outside weather permitting, inside if rain. Shelter officials appreciate the donations the community has provided in helping to ensure they can serve between 250-300 individuals, but they are still in need of a few type

The first annual “Randy Sams Day” will be held at the Randy Sams Outreach Shelter administration building on Nov. 17, at 4 PM.

The public is urged to please donate some bottled water or jug water ASAP in order to meet the needs of the people who need it, according to Jennifer Laurent, Executive Director of the shelter.

The City of Texarkana, Texas has been awarded $600,000 in homelessness assistance funding as part of a grant competition under the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program from the U.S. Department of Housing Urban Development.

The Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter announced Saturday it will be increasing its ability to provide services by expanding the physical size of its space via major renovations on its current campus or the acquisition and renovation of another facility.
