The draft of hate-crime legislation that members of the Senate and House have crafted moves the state closer to the goal of passing and implementing a much-needed hate-crime law, Governor Asa Hutchinson said today during a press conference in the Capitol’s second-floor rotunda.

Governor Asa Hutchinson today issued the official call to legislators for an Extraordinary Session of the 92nd General Assembly to convene at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020. The official proclamation can be found HERE.

The 92nd General Assembly, in ACT 510, designated the Bowie knife, commonly known as the “Arkansas Toothpick,” as the official knife of the State of Arkansas. Earlier this week, Governor Asa Hutchinson and Stacy Hurst, state historic preservation officer and director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage (DAH), revealed the preservation, rehabilitation and occupation plans for the Mosaic Templars State Temple building, the last remaining building built by the Mosaic Templars of America.

Some good news for the Texarkana area. Last week Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced that the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program awarded $2,824,799 in grants for projects in 47 Arkansas counties. According to a press release, Miller County was on the list.
