Steven Tyler sang the national anthem yesterday before the AFC championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens. The Patriots won, but that's not the big news on the internet today. It's Steven Tyler's performance.

Critics have said it was the worst performance ever, or just plain mediocre. Really? I didn't think it was that bad. I mean come on, we've heard some major flubs lately. Remember Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl last February?  O.k., maybe it wasn't Steven's best performance but at least he knew the words and he was singing acappella! So, critics...back off and give me (or Steven) a break!

According to Yahoo:

The Associated Press is saying that it would not get him to Hollywood, while Deadspin called it one of the worst anthems of all time. Radar gave him credit for getting all the words right, but that's about it. Sports Grid asked, "How is this guy supposed to pass as a judge on a singing competition when he does… this?" The Boston Herald was one of the few voices to defend Tyler, calling the performance, "pretty decent."
