It's time to get your team together for the annual Trey Bob Scavenger Hunt scheduled for June. Also happening this summer, it's the "2015 Summer Trey-lympics." Fashioned after your elementary field day, there will be events for both teams and individuals. Start practicing your egg race and hula-hooping skills.

Event coordinator Sandy Varner said, "Last year's event was a huge success. Not only did we raise a lot of funds for the Trey Varner Benevolent Fund, we also had a great time. We are adding a new event this year which will be a lot of good old fashioned fun and we hope will also raise a lot of money for the fund."

Registration is $30. If you would like a T-shirt only that is $20. Teams may consist of up to five members. The event is Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The starting and ending point will once again be Arkansas Razorback Stadium in Texarkana, Arkansas. Food and festivities will follow the hunt.

Prizes include:

  • 1st Place - $250
  • 2nd Place - $125
  • 3rd Place - Non-cash prize

Prizes will also be awarded for:

  • Best Team Name
  • Best Car Decorations
  • Best Costume
  • Spirit Award
  • Longest Travel Distance

Funds raised go into the Trey Varner Benevolent Fund, which was established in 2014 by the family and friends of Trey Varner for the purpose of assisting individuals and organizations with specific needs that cannot be met through traditional methods. Funds are distributed as needed and eligibility is determined by a committee that is appointed by the Varner Family.

Trey Varner tragically lost his life in a boating accident that could have been avoided if proper boating safety guidelines were adhered to. With summer fast approaching, there will be many people on the water so please make sure to keep the lake a fun and safe please to be.
