I’m a big “Rocky” Fan but Poor Rocky Balboa. Looks like he’s never going to get to retire. Worse yet, now he has to sing and dance, too. Sylvester Stallone is collaborating with world champion boxing brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko to produce ‘Rocky: The Musical,’ a stage play based on Stallone’s Oscar-winning film ‘Rocky.’ Stallone said the production will focus on the romance between Rocky and wife Adrian: “At the end of the day, ‘Rocky’ is a love story and he could never have reached the final bell without [her]. To see this story coming to life on a musical stage makes me proud. And it would make Rocky proud.” The lead actor hasn’t yet been cast, but Stallone certainly has an all-star ensemble lined up to make the show a success. The script will be penned by Broadway veteran Thomas Meehan (‘The Producers’), while Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers will direct, and Tony Award-winning lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty will do the music, which will include well-known songs from the ‘Rocky’ films such as ‘Eye of the Tiger’ and ‘Gonna Fly Now.’ ‘Rocky: The Musical’ plans its world debut, in German, in Hamburg, Germany late next year. The plan is then to take an English version of the musical on the road to stages around the world. I’m not entirely against making “Rocky” into a theatrical presentation, but does brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko know how hard it’s going to be to re-create this scene and make it believable? let’s hope so. watch the video, this will bring back memories.
