The intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Kings Highway will be reconstructed over the next year.Plans approved this month by the Texas Department of Transportation calls for the complete recontruction of the busy intersecion. Officials say they have had lots of trouble with pavement rutting and wearing out due to the heavy truck traffic at the intersection.

The roadway will be resurfaced using concrete instead of asphalt which should hold up much better in the heavy traffic. J.W. Payne Construction Company of New Boston, Texas has been awarded the contract for the project with a low bid of $3.7 million. Work on the project should begin in January and take about 17 months to complete.
