In most X Game sports, the competitors aren't even old enough to shave.  They are so good at riding bikes and skateboards because they haven't gotten a learners permit to drive yet.  Enter Global Rallycross.

Global Rallycross has been described by X Games superstars Travis Pastrana and Brian Deegan as "moto-cross with roll cages", and has attracted some of the top Rally drivers in the world, bringing in a whole new generation of "X-Gamers".

Meet 55 year-old Andy Scott team co-owner and driver of the number 26 Scott-Eklund Racing Saab 9-3.  Andy is from Scotland, and was the 2011 MSA British Rallycross Vice-Champion.  Andy Scott partnered with Swedish Rallycross legend Per Eklund in January of 2012 to form the team, and take a run at the GRC against the big manufacturer backed teams like Hyundai, Ford, and Subaru.  The independent team will field two, 2 liter twin turbo-charged 16 valve 600bhp Saab 9-3's in 2012.

Even with being eliminated with 3 laps left in the feature race at Texas Motor Speeway, dubbed "Hoon Kaboom Texas", Andy's 8th place finish in the event was enough to secure an invitation to X Games 2012 the weekend of June 28 to July 1 in Los Angeles.

For Andy Scott, racing in America is the realization of a 34 year dream.  The Scotsman is a Scallop Fisherman by trade, building his family business 'Scott Trawlers" up to be one of the U.K.'s top suppliers of fresh, and frozen king sea scallops. He started the business 20 years ago, and now has a fleet of scallop dredgers.  With his sons now running the family business, Andy was able to get back to his first love, racing rallycross.

Now, I have done as much research as I can, and by everything I have been able to find... at 55 years old Andy is the oldest X-Game competitor on record.  Until this years games the oldest competitor was Angelika Casteneda at age 53, not only did she compete in the X Venture Race in 1996, but she also won the gold medal.  (We are hoping the same result for Andy Scott.)

We sat with Andy's wife Aud at "Hoon Kaboom Texas" and got some video...
