Working just down the road, I had been to the building before but with "Fish Creek" under new management I wanted to stop in and give it a try, and I am glad I did.

I had been there when it was "The Ole Feed House" which a lot of us miss, and I had fish there about a year ago when it was under old management and I didn't plan on returning. However, I have heard some good things about the place, and the new management so I decided to see for myself what was new at"Fish Creek".

Located at 1514 Arkansas Boulevard the new hours are Thursday thru Saturday, 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., as for the prices, I thought it was just a little bit high, just looking at the price.... but I can eat 16 bucks worth of shrimp, so seemed like a good deal. The menu reminded me of "The Ole Feed House" Frog Legs like my daddy liked them, Catfish, Gumbo, Shrimp both Fried and Boiled, Stuffed Crab, chicken and what turned out to be my favorite from the buffet... Ribs! They also had a kids buffet from which I really liked the fried Macaroni and Cheese.

Before I start giving you my review, let me be clear that I am not a professional critic, but a decent whiner and I try to eat something everyday so maybe I am only sort of qualified.

Right away I noticed that the place was cleaner than the last time I had been there. Still had some of the "Ole Feed House" decor on the walls, but it was CLEAN. Call me silly but that is important for me.

The catfish was good, crispy cook but still flakey and moist, didn't have that, um, greasy taste. I did add a shake of salt. The fried shrimp was cooked really well but again, a little short on seasoning. Boiled shrimp was dead on. Frog legs, good. Fried Mac & Cheese great. The Gumbo was spicy enough to make me sweat a little bit, the chicken and dumplings was really good, you could tell it was "rolled out dumplins"... but as strange as it is, for me, my favorite item on the "Fish Creek Buffet" was the RIBS! Really good smoked ribs.

I recognized Shon Matthews, the manager of "Fish Creek", from the old "Bulldog 100" days. When he asked what I thought, messing with him I said, "I really like the new carpets", he replied "they're not new, we just cleaned them". He asked for my honest opinion so I told him what I thought about the food and Restaurant in general. He told me about how they were working to do better than ever before, and how much work they had put into the place since taking over a few months back, and it shows. I explained to Shon that I don't eat a lot of fried foods, but sometimes I get that craving. He said "Hold on, I got something you need to try"... he came back with a deep fried cinnamon roll... Yep, just like you would think... It was AMAZING!

Overall, it was a really good experience. The place was clean, the food was very good, the service even better. I just think it is a little odd that my favorite dishes were the ribs, and the deep fried cinnamon roll... but I recommend "Fish Creek Buffet", and think you should give them a try, and share your thoughts.
