A public memorial for Lou Reed has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in New York City at the Paul Milstein Pool & Terrace located at Lincoln Center.  The three-hour event, which will begin at 1 p.m. ET, will feature a variety of the influential rockers' recordings.

A message on Reed's official website and Facebook page explains that the gathering won't include any live performances or speeches, "just Lou's voice, guitar music & songs playing the recordings selected by his family and friends."

Reed died on October 27 at the age of 71 from complications of liver disease.
