Fozzy has been at the animal shelter for about a month and is getting a little anxious to go home. He is friendly but needs a reason to pay attention to you. He is very soft to the touch and he loves to go for walks.

Below, take video tours of the adoption floor and holding areas at the animal shelter in Texarkana. There are gorgeous puppies, pittbulls, black Labradors, German Shepherd mixes and many other breeds of dogs. Watch the videos to see if there is a dog for you and please share these videos with others.

The dogs in the holding area are waiting for their owners to reclaim them or for space to open on the adoption floor upstairs. Many will never make it upstairs. Some of these dogs may be reunited with their owners if the videos are shared on social media because many folks just don't know that they need to go to the shelter to look for their missing pets.

Be sure to turn up the sound so you can hear the puppies talking to me as I was filming them. There are several dogs that respond to questions and wait until you hear the husky yodel. There is a beautiful black Great Dane at about 4:50 in the video. Sad state of affairs for this boy because he has a hurt leg. There are some very sweet puppies all along the way in the tour.

Approximately two minutes into the video there are some adorable puppies and one of them keeps talking to me. It is so sweet!

The dogs in the holding area can also be adopted if their three or five day hold is up.

It is so unfortunate that there are thousands of dogs that are euthanized every year in our local shelter when there are so many dogs that would make fabulous pets. Please help us make a difference by spreading the word. Share this post on your Facebook page and Tweet about it, too.

The shelter's adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet. You can also have your pet micro-chipped for only $20 right at the shelter! That way if your pet is ever lost, he can be returned to you quickly.

If you would like to foster a dog contact the shelter to get information about dog rescues in our area that can help.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center is located at 203 Harrison St., Texarkana, Ark. 71854 and is open Monday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
