Pleasant Grove's softball team fell to Pine Tree 6-5 Tuesday night in a non-district game at Lady Hawk Field.

Pleasant Grove had a 2-0 lead going into the second inning but Pine Tree scored five runs aided by two Lady Hawk errors to go up 5-2. Pleasant Grove responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a triple by Kimmie Atienza and singles from Ashlyn Clark and Brooke Smith. After reaching base on an error, Pine Tree's Kabresha Orange came around to score the winning run in the top of the sixth inning.

Lady Hawks Head Coach Blake Worley was understandably concerned with his teams' multiple errors. Four of Pine Tree's six runs were unearned. "When you make the errors that we made, it's tough to win any game."

Worley noted that he liked the way his team responded. "I'm proud of how our girls fought." He said after the game. "For it to be the game that it was, I'm proud of the fight that they showed. I like where we are headed."

Pleasant Grove will be back in action this Friday, Feb. 21, with a home game against Carthage. Click here for the complete 2014 Lady Hawk softball schedule.
