Oklahoma's new law allowing open carry for concealed carry licensees went into effect today. How do you feel about this controversial subject?

I'll admit up front that I'm pretty much a gun nut. There has to be some reasonable limitations as to who can carry, like convicted criminals would be a, NO. Minimum age requirements, background check, training and such. But the 2nd amendment is clear and the Supreme Court has verified it twice that I know of. You and I as law abiding citizens of the United States of America have the legal right to carry a gun to defend ourselves and our family... period. That part of the issue is not debatable.

There are however "carry conditions" that can be.

  • Concealed with a license: Like we are now in Texas, where no part of the firearm can be visible or even discernible.
  • Open Carry with a license: Concealed Carry License holders can wear the firearm unconcealed as well.
  • Permissive Open Carry: Did you know there are 11 of these States that are purists and believe as I do that the 2nd Amendment is your license to carry and they don't require a State issued license at all. They include Virginia, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana and Alaska.
  • Anomalous Open Carry: States where open carry is mostly lawful, but there may be significant restrictions. States include California, Louisiana, Nevada, Kansas, Missouri, even Maine.

Would love to know your opinion on this issue, more women are getting their concealed carry license in Texas every year. Hand gun sales are through the roof all over the country and the guys and gals that are doing the training classes around here are staying very busy these days.
