Nicole Kidman believes so strongly in the United States' antiquated form of democracy that she's willing to support Donald Trump based solely on his impending title as president.

“[Trump is] now elected and we, as a country, need to support whoever is the president,” Kidman told UK television host Victoria Derbyshire via the BBC. “That is what the country is based on. And however that happened, he's there, and let’s go."

The Lion actress also noted she's wary of commenting on politics in general, saying, “I’m always reticent to start commenting politically, I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia. I’m issue based...I’m very, very committed to women’s issues.”

Truthfully, it can be difficult as a celebrity to toe the line between diplomacy and honesty, particularly when referring to a topic as delicate as politics. But for someone who is self-admittedly dedicated to "women's issues," it is absurd to issue Trump (or anyone in a position of power!) with unearned respect, especially considering the rhetoric and tactics employed throughout the length of his campaign .

But maybe Kidman hasn't seen the Access Hollywood tape yet.
