New Boston Woman Sentenced to 18 Years for Ricin-Laced Letters

36-year-old Shannon Guess Richardson has been sentenced to 18 Years in a Federal Prison for sending Ricin-laced letters to President Obama, former NYC Mayor Bloomberg, and the former director of "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" in 2013.

Richardson is also ordered to pay $367,222.29 in restitution.

The former bit part actress pleaded guilty of the charges in December of 2013 and is currently in the custody of Bowie County until it can be determined what Federal Facility she will be placed in.

The prosecution said she purchased the materials to create the toxin online then mailed the letters. Prosecutors then say she went to the police and blamed her estranged husband who had filed for divorce.

Richardson admitted to mailing the letters and lying about her husband when she made her plea deal, but at sentencing she stood in the courtroom and said that she had taken responsibility for her role in the crimes, but that Nathan Richardson had not. Investigators determined that Mr. Richardson was not involved in any way.
