Many of you who love to ride motorcycles enjoy driving on the open road with wind blowing against your face and freedom just around the next mile marker. However, how many of you would attempt to ride across the Andes Mountains on a motorcycle?

Well you might if you were trying to evade an arrest warrant. According to USA Today, Raul Fernando Gomez did just that. He started out in May on the motorcycle, but it broke down and he started to walk the rest of the way. At some point, someone reported him missing and search efforts began.

In order to survive, “Gomez said he lived off sugar and raisins that he had with him, as well as caches of food he found in mountain shelters. He also trapped and ate rats.”

Four months later, emergency services found him severely dehydrated and weighing 45 pounds less than usual, but he is in good health otherwise.
