The Texas House is proposing putting more money back into public education in the state of Texas. An additional $1 billion dollars would be heading back into public education under a measure put forth by the Texas House Appropriations Committee. Already both the house and senate in the Lone Star State has committed to restoring about $1.5 billion dollars that was slashed from the budget during the 2011 Legislative session.

There is also talk among legislative leaders that even more money might be put into education before the end of the session in late May. It looks like over half of what was cut in 2011 may be restored for the next school year.
