The Texas Department of Public Safety will be increasing patrols for the July 4th Holiday periodThe increased patrols will be from June 28th thru July 7th. DPS Troopers will be focusing DWI patrols in high risk locations at time when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.

According to TxDOT, the 4th of July traditionally ranks among the deadliest holiday periods on Texas Highways as a result of alcohol-related crashes. Last year DPS troopers made almost 1,300 DWI arrests, and over 360 of those arrests were the direct result of the increased patrols.
