The Miller County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence at State Highway 196 and Miller County 290 in reference to a shooting on Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, the homeowner in Genoa shot a person in his home.  Multiple shots were fired.  One person was transported to a local hospital and later died.  The homeowner has been interviewed by the Miller County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into the shooting continues.  The homeowner did not require medical attention. The deceased's remains will be sent to Little Rock to the Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death and for positive identification.

There is a possibility of several witnesses at the residence at the time of the shooting.  The Miller County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking information on who those witnesses are.

The circumstances around the shooting continue to be investigated.  At this time, no determination about justification or criminal charges have been decided.  Once the investigation is completed the file with be sent the Miller County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
