There will be several annual Memorial Day Weekend Observances in Texarkana on Sunday and Monday.

Take the opportunity to honor those brave men and women, who served our country in the armed forces and either gave the ultimate sacrifice or served and have since passed on.

The first observance will be Sunday May 27 at 2PM at East Memorial Gardens on Highway 67 East in Texarkana Arkansas.

The second ceremony will be Monday May 28 at 11AM at the Miller County Courthouse. Immediately following that observance will be a walk from the courthouse to the Korean/Vietnam Memorial at 7th and State Line Avenue.

The day will conclude with a final observance at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Highway 67 West in Wake Village starting at 2PM. You will drive through an avenue of more than 265 large American Flags, the park will also have over 1,200 small American Flags marking the graves of past veterans.

There will be music, guest speakers, laying of wreaths, prayers, and a 21 Gun Salute.

Memorial Day is more than a day to barbecue, picnic, swim, or other recreation. It's a day to remember those who made and kept freedom possible for all citizens of this great country.
