JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (adventure) Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis. A blended family investigates a distress signal on a remote island.

SAFE HOUSE (action thriller) Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepard, Vera Farmiga. A CIA agent goes on the run with the fugitive in his custody.

STAR WARS: EPISODE ONE -- THE PHANTOM MENACE (3D) (sci-fi) Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd. The 1999 film gets a 3D makeover.

THE VOW (drama) Channing Tatum, Rachel McAdams, Scott Speedman, Sam Shepard, Jessica Lange. Newlyweds have to fall in love all over after an accident results in amnesia.

Thursday, February 9:

Red Lick ISD Hosts their annual “HEROS” blood drive from 1:30-6:30PM in the cafeteria. Make every elementary student a “HERO” by donating blood in their honor. For more information call LifeShare Blood Center at 903-794-3173.

Friday, February 10:

Romantic Valentines Dinner and evening of entertainment, to be held on Friday February 10 and again on Saturday February 11 at William’s Tavern Restaurant at Historic Washington State Park . You and a loved one will join other couples in a historic dining experience and programming especially designed to add a twinkle to that special someone’s eyes. Bring your significant other or a loved family member like mom or dad, even a great dad and daughter’s night out. Just call 870-983-2684 for reservations. Tickets are $70.00 a couple and include the meal and entire evening.

Saturday, February 11:

Pancake Breakfast: The Hooks Cub Scout Pack 547 will have their Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 7:00AM to 11:00AM at the Downtowner Restaurant located on Hwy 82 in Hooks. Each plate will contain 2 pancakes, bacon and milk or juice. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. For more information please contact Vanessa Hawley at 903-276-3977. All proceeds benefit Pack 547.

Texarkana Animal League and other local rescues will be participating in the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend at the Texarkana, Texas, PetSmart this Saturday from 11AM to 4PM. Whether you are looking for a dog or cat, puppy or kitten, TAL and others will have the perfect companion for your Valentine's Day. When you adopt during this special event Petsmart Charities will make additional donations to the sponsoring rescue group. Also during this event, TAL will be accepting applications by interested parties in adopting or fostering currently-homeless dog and cats, educating the public about animal issues, and raising donations for the not-for-profit, volunteer-run group Texarkana Animal League. This event is free to attend, adoption fees vary per dog, and cat adoption fees are $80. All of these animals are current on their vaccines and have been spayed or neutered; many are even microchipped. For more information visit TexarkanaAnimalLeague.org.

Saturday, February 18:

Fundraiser Chili Supper and Auction on Saturday, at the Church of the Nazarine located on Robinson Rd at Richmond Rd sponsored by the Bowie County Dive Team. It will also be a meet and greet the candidates for the upcoming election in Bowie County. The cost will be $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. This will include dinner (chili and fixins and drink). All candidates are invited to attend and speak as well as to pass out literature. Annual Redwater Volunteer Fire Department Bass Tournament is Saturday, April 14 at Wright Patman Lake in Sportsman’s Cove. All proceeds from our tournament help to purchase much needed equipment in order to protect our local community. Raffles and fun for the entire family.
