Legendary television announcer Don Pardo has died. He was 96-years-old. Don began with NBC as a staff announcer in 1944 and had been a part of Saturday Night Live since it began in 1975.

In 2004, Pardo received a Lifetime Contract with NBC. Bob Hope is the only other entertainer to ever have received such an honor. Don started in radio using his real name Dom, short for Dominic, but everyone kept calling him Don, so it stuck.

He has been the SNL announcer for 38 years. He was a widower having lost his wife in 1995 and is survived by three daughters, two sons, five grandchildren, and three little great-grandchildren.
