The 11th annual Kansas City Southern – Holiday Express is scheduled to pull into Texarkana at 4PM on Tuesday December 6th, at the train yard on West 7th Street with Santa and the Elves onboard.  The six car train includes the KCS Southern Belle, Rudy the smiling Tank Car, a flatcar carrying Santa’s sleigh, a miniature village, a ginger bread boxcar, the elves’ workshop; the reindeer stable, and a little red caboose.  Tours are FREE to the public.

The Holiday Express was created in 2001 after volunteers dedicated more than 8,000 hours in transforming the once retired rail cars.

This year the train will be open to the public 27 dates, in 25  communities where they will distribute more than $108,550 in gift cards to  Salvation Army branches along the way.

The only way to get to the train on the Texarkana stop, will be by using free shuttle buses provided by T.I.S.D.  You must park at Tiger Stadium in Grim Park on Summerhill Rd., and take the shuttle.  The free shuttle buses will be running from 4:45PM until 8:45PM.

A big thank you to all of the sponsors that made this stop in Texarkana possible, Kansas City Southern, Texarkana Texas Parks & Recreation Department, Friends of Texarkana Parks, TEXAR Federal Credit Union, Integrity Electric, Starbucks, Dot’s Rentals, and T.I.S.D.
