Memorial Day weekend is HUGE for motorsports, with the Indy 500 and the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.  In the Indianapolis 500 the win went to Dario Franchitti, and in the Coca-Cola 600 Kasey Kahne got win number 201 for Hendrick Motorsports.

The day of racing began with the 96th running of the Indy 500.  Dario Franchitti claimed his third Indy 500 victory, and dedicated his win to the late Dan Wheldon who was killed in the final race of the 2011 season.  Wheldon won the Indy 500 last year.

Behind Franchitti, Ganassi teammate Scott Dixon was second, and Tony Kanaan in third place.  This is Franchitti's 31st win, putting him in a tie with Paul Tracy, and Sebastien Bourdais on the all-time win list.

The IZOD Indy Series races into Texas June 9.

In Charlotte it was the longest race in NASCAR, the Coca-Cola 600.  It was Kasey Kahne for the victory, the 13th of his career but his first since joining Hendrick Motorsports.

It was Kasey Kahne with the win, Denny Hamlin second, Kyle Busch third, Greg Biffle was fourth and Brad Keselowski finishing out the Top 5.

Next Sunday the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Dover for the FedEx 400 Benefitting Autism Speaks, race number 13 of 36.  Coverage will be on Fox beginning at 11:30 a.m.
