Union workers at the Cooper Tire and Rubber Company Plant in Texarkana are being briefed on the details of the tentative contract hammered out by negotiators last week. The workers will study the proposal today and vote tomorrow as to whether to ratify or reject the agreement with the tire maker.

The Congressional delegation from Arkansas was not surprisingly split over their reaction to the President’s State of The Union Speech last night. South Arkansas Democratic

Representative Mike Ross said he appreciated that President Obama presented what he called a detailed plan on how to the strengthen the middle class and the economy back on track. Democratic  U.S. Senator Mark Pryor said he hopes to work with the President to achieve the goals for greater economic growth.

Meanwhile Republican U.S. Senator John Boozeman said it was time for the President to work with Republicans on common sense solutions to the country’s problems. Also Representatives Rick Crawford and Tim Griffin both Republicans noted that the President rejected a permit for a Canada to Texas pipeline project that they say would have created 20,000 jobs.
