Good Thursday, Here are some stories making headlines today:

The Texarkana Texas Police have been busy the past 24 hours. First officers were called around 6:15 yesterday evening to the 700 block of Martine Street in reference to an assault and robbery.  They discovered the victim a 56 year old had been assaulted by two male suspects and his vehicle stolen.

The car taken is a 2008 4 door white Nissan Sentra, with Texas License plate: CP2J805. If you have any information on this crime you are asked to phone police detectives at (903) 798-3170 or Texarkana Area Crimestoppers at (903) 793-stop.

Later authorities were called  around 1:30 am to the 3300 block of Austin Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers  found 31 year old Brian Cornelius suffering from  a single shotgun wound to his lower abdomen . Cornelius was taken to a local hospital where he later died. His body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The investigation is in its early stages.

The Texarkana Arkanasas Four States Chapter of Delta Waterfowl is having their annual meeting this evening at the Fine Arts Building on the Four States Fairgrounds. The event gets underway with a social at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:30. Tickets are on sale at the Four States Fair Box Office and at Best Gun, Langdon Polaris, and Rush Truck Center. Some of the proceeds will help sponsor a Youth Hunt and Youth Scholarships.

The Texas Rangers will host the Tampa Bay Rays in the opener of the American League Baseball playoffs Friday afternoon in Arlington. The Rangers finished the regular season with the 2nd best record in the AL behind only the New York Yankees. The Yanks will face the Detroit Tigers in the playoffs beginning Friday Night in New York.
