The month of June was just as hot as you thought it was. Dave Hall, the emergency management coordinator for Texarkana , says according to the National Weather Service June was the second hottest since records began being kept back in 1892. The average temperature was 84.2, with the record being 84.6 set in 1953.

Also June was the 11th driest on record dating back to 1892. Only 3/4 of an inch of rain fell in June which is 3.70 below normal.

The Arkansas Congressional Delegation has announced that nine Arkansas airports will receive a combined over $3 million dollars in F.A.A. grants for new construction and improvements at their facilities.

Included in that, the Howard County Airport in Nashville will receive over $293,000 to rehabilitate and expand the apron. The funds will also be used to install a vertical/visual guidance system which will make the airport more accessible to pilots.
