An investigation is underway after a bizarre incident near Texarkana left one person dead. Authorities say witnesses indicate a man was driving strangely before crashing his vehicle near the FCI Prison in the Liberty-Eylau Community of Northeast Texas.
Bowie County Deputies responded as did a local Texas Game Warden who came as back up after it was determined the man had a gun. Authorities say the suspect opened fire on them but no injuries occurred. The game warden returned fire striking and killing the man.
Union workers at the Cooper Tire Plant in Texarkana, Arkansas have given a thumbs up to a tentative contract extension with the tire maker. The vote yesterday came one day after the union employees got a complete look at the details of the 4 year contract extension and had their questions answered.
The vote was different here than it was late last fall in Ohio, when union workers at the Findley Cooper Tire plant rejected their contract extension and the company locked out around 1,000 workers.
The fight over newly drawn political redistricting maps in Texas is shifting back to San Antonio to see if a statewide April 3rd Primary date can be salvaged. Both thhe state and minority groups suing over the Republican-drawn maps were back in a Texas Federal Courtroom today.
The annual NFC-AFC Pro Bowl game will be played Sunday in Hawaii. Of course the Super Bowl will be a week from Sunday in Indianapolis, Indiana between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
