The Unemployment rate has dropped from 9% in October to just 8.6% in November. The Labor Department says that 120,000 jobs were added last month. However the news is tempered by the fact that the rate also dropped because some people simply gave up on finding a job, which means they are no longer counted in the unemployment numbers. Hiring generally picks up around the Christmas Season.

Preparations are underway for the Annual Downtown Christmas Parade in Texarkana. This years event will be Monday Night December 5th starting at 7pm and following the usual downtown parade route. The parade featuring area marching bands and floats ends with the appearance by Santa Claus.

A  Texarkana man has been indicted on charges he killed a Bowie County Sheriff's Deputy earlier this year. The indictment handed down yesterday against Tucker Strickland in the death of Deputy Sherri Jones.

In Sports: The Texas A&M Aggies are looking for a new head football coach as they head to the SEC.  The Aggies fired Mike Sherman yesterday after finishing 6-6 with a loss to the rival Texas Longhorns. Sherman ends his stint with A&M with an even 25-25 record over the past few years.
