Today is National Scrabble Day! I love Scrabble! In fact, ‘Words with Friends’ is my current addiction on my phone!

Today is the birthday of the man that invented Scrabble. Architect Alfred Mosher Butts, born on April 13, 1899, called his game “Lexiko” then “Criss-Crosswords”.

Hard to believe, but he couldn’t get a company interested in manufacturing it!  So, he sold the manufacturing rights to James Brunot, in exchange for a royalty on every game sold. (Good thinking!)

Brunot simplified the game and called it Scrabble! The President of Macy’s started playing it and got hooked so he placed a big order for the department store  … and of course, the rest is history!

I love word games! Scrabble, Crossword Puzzles and Cryptoquote! Do you play scrabble? What other word games do you like to play? Take the survey below!
