Is This ZZ Top at a High School Prom in 1971? [PHOTO]

A photo has turned up on the world wide web of misinformation that some say is "ZZ Top" after they played a High School Prom in 1971.

After doing a little digging I found out that there is a story that goes along with this pic too.

The story goes, ZZ Top had agreed to do the prom before they released their debut album in January 1971.  The album got quite a bit of attention, especially the cut, "Shakin' Your Tree", which made it on the Billboard Top 100 back in the day.

When they started taking off, they tried to get out of the prom gig, but the school couldn't find a replacement act in time, so the guys played.  Word has it that because they had started to get popular from the album, a lot of people tried to crash the prom.

I don't know if all of this is true, but folks that attended Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School in Orange, Texas say it did.

I tend to believe them.
