Hooks Fire Claims One Life and Injures Another, Donations Needed and Family Fund Set at Local Bank
An early Saturday morning house fire claimed the life of a Hooks, Texas woman and injured her husband. A fund has been set up for the Springer family under Springer Family Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo in Texarkana and surrounding areas.
According to KSLA news:
Authorities say a woman died in the fire after she went back into the mobile home for reasons that aren't known. Her husband, who had gotten her and their two children out of the house, suffered serious burns on his arms and legs and is being treated at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Family members told KSLA News 12 that the husband had smelled what he thought was burning wires. When he discovered his wife had gone back into the house, he pulled out a window air conditioning unit and tried to get back into the house to get her. Fire fighters had to pull him out.
Investigators were on the scene of the fire Saturday looking for clues as to how the fire started and why.
