Hendrix 70: Live at Woodstock[VIDEO]
The film was assembled from the original 16mm footage by Michael Wadleigh, who directed the 'Woodstock' movie. Eddie Kramer, Hendrix's engineer, digitally remastered the sound with a 5.1 audio surround mix. Kramer, Woodstock promoter Michael Lang and musicians Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell are also featured in a documentary that precedes the concert.
"All of us at Experience Hendrix are thrilled with the fact that 'Live at Woodstock' will be shown in theaters," said Janie Hendrix, Jimi's stepsister and CEO of Experience Hendrix, LLC. "This film reflects a legendary event in our history as well as a true pinnacle of Jimi's career. We celebrate his 70th birthday as we continue to celebrate his legacy".
Hendrix's performance at Woodstock on the morning of Aug. 18, 1969 is considered to be one of the most famous in rock history, largely thanks to Wadleigh's film. The two-hour set featured a new band, the Band of Gypsys, and his iconic performance of 'The Star-Spangled Banner.'
