It's the 37th Annual Great American Smokeout. The event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, has helped to lead to curtailing smoking in public places across the country. However, figures show some 44 million adults in the country still smoke, that is around 1 in 5. Teen use is also very high so the Society says lots of work is still to be done.

They encourage smokers to at least put the cigarettes down for today and make a plan to quit. It will improved your health and reduce the risk of acquiring Cancer. Studies show that tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States.

The American Cancer Society hopes you will give your lungs a rest today and hopefully forever.
